In the last few months, it seems like everyone we know has become something of an amateur chef. Just clicking through Instagram stories, you find shots of friends showing off fresh-baked bread, beautiful cloudlike coffee, and many other homemade treats. Thanks to apps like Tik Tok, there has been no shortage of viral food trends, inspiring viewers to recreate these quick and easy recipes in their own kitchens. We’ve compiled a few of our favorites! Requiring very little prep, and a few ingredients found easily in your home, these popular Tik Tok recipes are a fun, delicious way to pass the time in quarantine.
Whipped Coffee
Make an insta-worthy beverage in minutes! The whipped coffee that you’ve been seeing all over your FYP was an instant hit early in quarantine. The drink is easily made by stirring equal parts instant coffee, granulated sugar, and hot water. Serve the finished product over milk and ice. Some TikTokers have taken this thick and frothy beverage a step further by adding cocoa powder, caramel, or peanut butter. Yum!
Cloud Bread
If you’re on TikTok, you’re likely familiar with this viral recipe. Cloud bread is not your run of the mill banana bread or sourdough; this gorgeous airy dessert has already racked up more than 4 million views! The texture is light and airy, similar to a marshmallow. This meringue-like loaf only requires three basic ingredients: egg whites, sugar, and cornstarch. Simply add food coloring to create bright pastel-colored clouds!
Mini Pancake Cereal
This trend is exactly how it sounds: mini flapjacks covered in syrup, eaten with a spoon.
Simply make your favorite pancake batter and instead of scooping the batter onto the pan, pour the batter into a squeeze bottle. Squeeze the coin-sized bits of batter onto the pan and flip each mini pancake once they are golden brown. Serve them in a bowl with butter, a drizzle of maple syrup, and a little bit of milk. Try this recipe for a twist on a traditional breakfast!
